Experienced Environmental Professional

Benefits your organization

With extensive experience specializing on issues related to environmental science and environmental law, I am well-equipped to assist your and your organization with regulatory compliance, environmental advocacy and litigation in the fields of natural resources and environmental law, energy law, renewable energy, water law and environmental justice. I am also experienced in advocating on behalf of American Indian and Alaska Native peoples and organizations on issues related to environmental, natural, cultural and subsistence resources.

For example, an Assistant Borough Attorney with the North Slope Borough, I worked closely with the Mayor and Borough staff on a variety of topics. As the lead attorney in environmental law, I worked with policy staff, western scientists, and holders of indigenous knowledge (including subsistence hunters) to review oil & gas permits and regulations to best advocate for the needs of the community. I worked on projects in several major areas of activity in the Arctic, including Prudhoe Bay, the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, near-shore oil & gas projects, offshore oil & gas projects and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. I also addressed issues related to endangered species, including polar bears, ice seals, and walrus.

In addition, my environmental experience includes serving as the Intergovernmental Coordinator with the State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources Commissioner’s Office, clerking with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of General Counsel, and clerking with the U.S. Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources Division. Before law school, I worked in marine policy advocacy with Oceana. I also worked as an environmental scientist in water quality with the University of Rhode Island Watershed Watch and conducting stream surveys and stream restoration with AmeriCorps.
