Assisting municipalities

Addressing a wide range of issues for a wide range of cities, boroughs, counties and special districts in Oregon and Alaska

As an experienced municipal attorney, I can work with municipalities as outside general counsel, or contract legal counsel for special projects. I can address a wide range of topics in municipal law, including charter questions, charter review, public records, ethics, public meetings, public finance, elections, redistricting, regulatory compliance, Boards and Commissions, natural resources, environmental law, land use, water law, police, fire, health services, and more.

For example, an Assistant Borough Attorney with the North Slope Borough, I worked closely with the Mayor and Borough staff on a variety of topics to assist the Borough in complying with federal, state and local law. This county-level government served the people of the region, in several villages spread across a land area the size of Utah with a $450 million operating budget. We faced many unique challenges, but also addressed many common issues.

I offer a number of different legal services, including working as outside general counsel, special counsel, litigation and project-specific advising.
